Welcome to  DragAndFly!

Drag & Fly, Inc. is dedicated to the preservation of the art of flying tail wheel (conventional landing gear) aircraft.  Tail wheel aircraft are often referred to as “tail-draggers,” however, a true tail-dragger has a tail skid (no tail wheel); examples would be WW I aircraft such as the Fokker tri-plane, Newport, and Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel.

We provide tail wheel training/endorsements, spin training, fun flight reviews (BFR), and basic instrument training/practice.

We are currently flying a nicely restored Cessna 140A (the factory metal wing model produced just prior to the Cessna 150…see the gallery).  It has been modified with Cleveland main wheels and brakes, a Scott 3200 tail wheel, alternator, Cessna 150 exhaust system, and electric gyro instruments.

Our instructor has been flying tail wheel aircraft since the late 1950s and has experience in the DC-3, Beech 18, and various single engine tail wheel aircraft.

Tail wheel instruction leading toward an endorsement (required since April 15, 1991) consists of about two hours of ground training which includes an aircraft orientation session and discussion of tail wheel theory.  Ground instruction includes all materials needed.  The text book is Taming the Taildragger by John Ball.

We are located at Tacoma-Narrows Airport (TIW) and can provide training at Bremerton National Airport (PWT) for a small additional ferry charge.
